The MCL2 charge is really nice. You can use it right after you
stop casting, not like the actual RA skill where you hafta wait like 5
seconds or something. The omin-tap is nearly useless, only situation i
could imagine using it in is if the enemy has 1% hp left and i keep
getting interupted, using the charge to do the last hit. Apr 15

Got my Tartaro's to level 10 today, tested the level 10 charge... I'm going to unmap /use2.
There's absolutely no reason to ever use this instead of the level 5 mcl2 charge. Sad that it uses the same timer.
It's not AoE. And it's a charge. Feb 22

Its an Omni-Tap
It has the same effect as Snakecharmer, meaning...
30% Power
30% HP
30% End
Or something to that effect... But either way i'd agree, as a caster,
i'd rather have an insta MCL II then hit the guy for 250 dmg and gain a
little end or health so i can sprint 5 seconds before i die. Feb 22

Updates:
Per 1.78 Patch Notes:
Necromancer: There are new versions of several artifacts for Necromancers which better suit the class via usage in shadeform and casting spells through the pet. Any newly attained versions of The Eternal Plant, Staff of God, Tartaros Gift, Belt of Oglidarsh, and Ring of Fire are effected by this change. Artifact Scholar Jarron will accept current versions of these artifact in trade for the newer versions. Please note, all artifact experience will be lost when completing this trade-in.
- Please note that any artifact trade-in will result in a brand new level 1 artifact.
Strategy:
Tartaros' Gift, it drops of the High Priest siam-he in Typhon's Reach. Nov 12
- Edaren
Tartaros' Staff - Players will no longer be able to engage High Priest
Akil in a manner that denies the High Priest help from his siam-he
portal priests. (1.69 patch, Apr 14 2004)
Method 1:
Done with 5 people and no salamander summoning:
This encounter was completed with a Nightshade, Wardenbot, and Druidbot
grouped. An out of group Light/Mana Mentalist and Bardbot with area
effect endurance also accompanied me. All characters were level 50.
No salamanders were summoned in this specific instance.
I played the Nightshade and grouped with the Druid and Warden. I
included the Mana Mentalist in the BG to ensure he got credit. I setup
East of the Priest's Altar with the Druid root pulling High Priest
Akil to lure him off his platform to. The Nightshade engagedin melee
immediately as far away from the 2 adjacent Portal Priests as
possible. The Druid and Warden maintained maximum range for heals.
The Bard was positioned as far away as possible but allowing Crocodile
Tear's AE endurance. The Mana Mentalist was positioned in a non-aggro
area further East.
I have had him summon Salamanders for no apparent reason on other
attempts. It took approximately 6 tries. It also appears he yells for
help from the nearby Siam-He in the area.
The endeavor took approximately 35 minutes of fighting.
Bladeturn and sufficient healing are critical. Salamanders only seem to summon MOST of the time if:
1. You have more than 3 people (including pets) fighting/healing or possibly located in the nearby area.
2. You get too close to the Portal Priests.
3. A member gets aggro and they are not within range of Akil.
You should also note:
Akil has a shout/casted DD/Lifetap DD that he uses if you are not within his engage radius. It hits often and rather hard.
Akil's melee does not seem extraordinarily strong but it is almost necessary to have Bladeturn to manage aggro reasonably.
Salamanders take about 6-10 minutes to disappear once summoned and are
aggressive. They will disappear even if you charm them as a pet.
The Salamanders have a cold DD snare and are highly resistent to damage.
The only location that seems safe from the Portal Priests while melee'ing Akil appears to be from the East/SE approach.
Akil has to be be pulled off his pad but the puller should stay within
his DD range until he is engaged in melee. Tanks should wait closer to
engage otherwise he will DD the puller to death rather quickly.
Akil wanders on his pad.

Method 2:
We had 1.5 fg + buffbots.
Group 1:
Me (necromancer)
Friar
Cleric
Cleric
Paladin
Paladin
Paladin
Armsman
yes, all tanks... a heavy load
Group 2:
Cleric
Merc

Friar (who won the staff...)
GROUP 3, THE KEY TO THIS ENCOUNTER:
CLERIC (With HEAL FONT)
CLERIC (With POWER FONT)
Minstrel
Adding a stormlord with end drain is also nice...
SET UP AT THE ENCOUNTER: Everyone needs to be bound in volcanus haven.
The minstrel is essential and needs to get a salamander pet near the
Shades of Mist Encounter. It must be a salamander due to their high hp
and fire resists. Everyone moves to the encounter. Try to set up on the
SW Side of the ring, you might have to clear a few siam-hes. Clerics
run up to just outside the argo range of the priests to the NE of the
ring and put up heal fonts and Power fonts. The clerics Sprint back to
Volcanus haven with their fonts going, staying grouped I might add with
the Minstrel and if you're lucky, Stormlord w/ end drain. If you have
the stormlord w/ end drain, put the storm right next to the fonts, but
have him stand next to the fonts. Quickly buff up the salamander and
get ready to start.
ENCOUNTER: Use the minstrel pet on passive to pull the Big Priest Dude
OUTSIDE his ring and outside his "engage radius". He will go out if he
is within melee range of the salamander pet. Yes, he will dodge
everything but the important thing is that you get the pet to be hit by
the heal and power fonts. Make sure hes on passive so that he moves
easily. Hopefully you can get the pet to be hit by the 2 fonts up. Now,
have the minstrel (who should be standing in range of the 2 fonts) use
some AE (sometimes your pet gets close enough you dont need an AE) to
get argo of ALL The salamanders. It doesnt matter if he casts on the
main priest or not because he should not be within melee range. The
minstrel will die, but he touched the salamanders, and was healed by
the 2 clerics back in volcanus haven... Instantly, all of the
salamanders will start sprinting to volcanus haven, while the big
priest dude will stand at the edge of his engage radius. The minstrel
with SoS needs to release quickly and pop up in volcanus with the 2
clerics.
Note: If you had the stormlord, he should be with the minstrel at all
times. Have him attempt to get argo of all salamanders also, and make
sure he gets hit by the heal/power font. The end storm will get the
argo too, but an extra AE is nice.
Now it is a standard zerg fight. The Goal is to destroy the main priest
BEFORE the Salamanders start coming back... The minstrel who released
needs to stand guard and look out for the incoming 60 salamanders (yes,
if you get the max ammount, there will be 60 salamanders). When they
start approaching the 2 clerics, activate SoS and kite them.
In the mean time- Everyone else should be beating at the the main
guy... You're short on time, he has to die fast and sometimes it ends
up pretty close, but dont rush it and get sloppy.
Using the same as Method 2...
WAY TO DO IT WITHOUT THE MINSTREL/STORMLORD: Well, there is a way, but
this way calls it very very close... Everyone gets killed but the
clerics. Have all tanks form one group toghether. The fonts go up,
clerics run back to haven. Now... The tanks all Stick to the Big Dude,
and try to pull him back so that they get hit by the fonts. All the
tanks will die, but they should have gotten hit by the fonts so that
the salamanders start heading back to the haven... The clerics should
be IN THE WATER... When they see the salamnders coming, they need to
dive down deep. This will loose their argo.. Now, a cleric at the raid
party needs to disband and put another font up and start taking off for
the haven so that when teh salamanders get there, they see the font,
and get that argo, and start taking off for the other cleric at haven..
rinse and repeat until dead.
Method 3:
Just did Tartaros Gift encounter with a Death Servant spec necro
and cleric. Both are in a BG but not grouped. The cleric stays pretty
far back while the necro pulls. While dmg shield and the pet are
hitting High Priest Akil the cleric sits back and heals the pet. Takes
all of about 2-3 mins. Oct 13 2004
- Recklessone
Did tartaros as a 50 manachanter duoed (not grped but battlegrouped) with a 50 warden with FOP.
Just send pet in. Warden has pet buffed and do small heals. Easiest encounter yet. No need for specs either. Sep 21 2004
- Eivil
Just a enchanter and mana ment with bb( fop will help
for made it faster but is not necessary). Focus pull works in
that High priest Akil and since encounter give credit for BGs better do
it ungrouped. Thats grants only a few salamanders summoned.
Just send pet with focus up to Akil and use HoTs for heal pet...
Remember have full buffed pet and be sure u have casted on he Cold
resistance buff. Sep 5 2004

We did this with 3ppl, 2animists and me one ench/druid (the ench isnt needed
just speeds things up with pbae). The key is not to be in a grp that way
you dont get the salamader argo. Start by setting up fop at one of the
tents. then one of the animists pull High Priest Akil with permanat shroom. After
you pull him, both animists max out shrooms and watch him died. I was dual log
with an ench for pbae made it a little quicker but not by much.
