I was able to activate the ring as a Friar for partial usage. I believe that the only restriction on it for Friars is that
the level 10 ability won't work. I would assume that other healing classes would get the same partial usage of the ring as well.  Sep 16 2004

My understanding was that the ring did work for wardens (and PBT) then was nerfed. Last I heard was that the ring works for bards and chanters on hib. Not sure about the other realms.   Jan 29

For Level 6 ability:  (it says INSTEAD in the description, so I am assuming that its also a 5% damage reduction vs everything, and some very loose testing seems to support this).
Its not a charge, its a passive ability. And its not THAT good, its barely noticable often. if someone hits you for 200 damage, you get 10 power, big deal.   Nov 21

Damage converted via the level 6 Crocodile's Tear Ring ability will now update the player's power and endurance bars.

Strategy:

Location:  50737, 27855, Oceanus Boreal , just north of that is the crocodile camp.   - Jhova

Done with a Warrior and my buffbot, a Shaman, playing both of them.
First off, I'd locate Cyrene and pull her with the UNGROUPED Shaman, then dive immediately, and swim to the West of the islands, away from the aggro area (I didnt really care how much mobs I aggroed, actually I insta'ed Cyrene and aggroed a few others on the way up. It's not important how much as long as you can submerge and dive again safely). Then I'd swim to my Warrior which I left waiting underwater a bit farther away (again, West in my case). Of course try to stay deep enough so that the crocodiles cant hit the puller but are still aggroed. After the 10s timer, I'd group my Warrior (or you could groupe anyone you like), leave the aggroed puller underwater, go to the surface, pick Cyrene from the pack and beat her down as a single mob, the rest being still "stuck" to the puller.
Of course this assumes you dont aggro any mobs already underwater, only those on the surface.  Oct 17 2004

Tips:

Cynere's respawn time is about 30 minutes.   Jan 24

Cynere travels to approximately 53k, 23k with only three to 4 adds.  This makes him much easier to deal with, regarding baf issues.  Fight them under water.  Dec 10

Cyrene is a rather easy encounter, I have found her always at the 3 crocodile islands in boreal, the Traitor's Dagger also spawns here (Saedri The Traitor) so this is a good 2 artifact grab for a small group to do.  First time we did this we had 50 Celtic Spear hero (me), 50 Void eldritch, and a 48 druid with good buffs and good heals (thanks to toa armor, 630pt heals and near capped buffs).

- First try we waited for her and her posse to leave the safety of the other amaloi crocodiles, if she's buried, just start killin' the regular amalois, they are good xp, and hell, you might clear a path to Saedri or Cynere. Eventually she got far away from the group, we killed her, kind of awkwardly since it was the first time we'd done it, keep the orange amalois that are with her off the squishies and you will be fine, eld dropped them quickly then it was me vs. Cynere.  Took a while, used Ignore pain and stag, and then she dropped, however no ring.

- Second Try - same thing, only things went better, I didn't need IP or stag, things went well, except the drop, no dice.

- Third Try - I figured I'd shake things up a bit and tempt fate, I wanted teh credit for my bard (level 42) since I wanted the item for her.  Now the druid logged her level 50 celtic spear hero (no ignore pain), the eld was still there and I was playing my 42 bard.  Pretty weak group right?  Well, we killed her easier than we had before, and she dropped the ring, I got my credit, proceeded to pick my jaw up off the ground and there you have it.

Easy encounter, if you want to be safe, bring a group, but definitely doable if you have a heavy tank, some sorta damage dealer to take care of adds (another heavy tank would be better in case of mad resists), and either a good healer, or a class with end regen.   Dec 30 2003

We did it with a 50 warden and 48 bard, pulled Cyrene to a deepish part of the area, warden slowly crept up until he could hit but the adds couldn't hit. Bard used light heals and with a power2 pot didn't run low on power. Took 3-5 minutes to kill but it seemed much easier than when we did it with 4. 2 people, no buffbot, no MLs, light heals.  Jun 6 2004
