Traitor's Dagger

Classes that can use: ARMS, INF, MERC, MINS, PAL, REAV, SCOU, BARD, BM, CHA, DRU, HERO, NS, RANG, VAMp, WARD, HUNT, SAV, SB, SKLD, THAN, VALK, WAR

Midgard players will now be given a choice of activating this artifacts as a sword weapon or an axe weapon.   (1.68 patch, Feb 19, 2004)
It is left-hand useable for some classes. It is left-hand useable as a slash/blade for a nightshade and a bard, but not for a shadowblade, for example.  Shadowblade can use as left-hand useable if activated as an axe.
Left hand useable version is dps 15.0, spd 3.4
Comments on Solo, Grouped, or Battlegrouped:   This has been soloed.  Some say it can't be done solo, so you might want to have 2 people, depends on what class you are.

The amount of health returned by the vampiric mists from the Traitor's Dagger has been reduced.  (from Jan 6 hot fix)

Regarding the level 5 proc, I've been using the dagger all morning in Avalon City versus yellow and orange con mobs near the entrance.
The proc does go off more often, it seems to be a good bit more often.
The Mists seem to hit harder, and the lifetap they proc goes off more often.
The mists seem to get resisted A LOT!
(You now get resist messages from the mists.)
Against yellows when I’m full buffed if the proc goes off once, I can just beat them down unstyled and come out with 98-100% life... much better than before.
It seems that when the proc goes off once, it has a high chance of going off on successive hits. Its not unusual to have 3 mists out at once.  Feb 21 2004

The Effect "wilting" on traitors dagger seems to have quite a long range, on my mercenary when it is active it has procced when i am using my shortbow.  Jun 20 2004

Strategy:

He can be found in 4 different locations:
He respawns every 10 minutes or so.

When Sadri spawns as a shark near the Staff of God site, a message is seen:

This information mostly pertains to when he is at the crocodile islands, which I have come to call the Pit.
 
It seems the amolai crocodiles seem to have issues with line of sight.  If the crocodiles are on the top of the water and you swim below them as far down as you can go, they will hover over the top of you but will not be able to attack you.  You can use this to your advantage!  This will allow you to get to Sadri unharmed by the crocodiles, fully ready to take him on.  If, however, the crocodiles are under water swimming, you will have to bypass this strategy, because they will be able to see you and fight you.
 
As per the map, the best way to approach the crocodile islands is to come in from the northeast side.  This is the best place to see him from, and you can also go deep enough to avoid the crocodiles.
 
The other locations he appears are much easier, and they require less strategy, more or less brute force will work in those occassions.
 
It took us more than 10 tries to get the first dagger, and later that night, I got a second one on the first pull, so the drop is completely random.  May 26 2004

There defenitely seems to be a pattern to where Sadri spawns or moves to next. When I first started the encounter I made my way to the 3 croc islands to 56k, 27k and didn't see him. From there I went to the Staff of God encounter meso loc at 15151, 58638 and found him. Once we killed him we went back to 3 croc islands and searched the original loc, found nothing. Then we found him at Traldors Temple, where we killed him and went back to croc island and saw nothing. So we moved to the surface loc in meso next to the Staff of Gods encounter, the loc was  19191,61213  or around there -- we found him swimming right next to shore.
 
We did this encounter 7 times that night. Each time we found him at staff of god loc, followed traldors temple, followed by meso shore loc, then staff of god loc again, then traldords temple, then meso shore loc, then staff of god loc, etc. ***However*** I did make sure to go to the 3 croc islands in Boreal each time to ensure that he had spawned and ran or had not spawned there (note, he has a pretty huge run radius, so you can think he hasn't spawned but infact did spawn and saw you and ran).  Mar 5 2004

Tips:

Another tip to kill sadri: u can pull him easy to one of the islands (northeast).
It is a good idea to kill the few crocs between the shore and sadri, cause they move around a lot, they would add.
Easiest way: roguer stealthed, dive till u can target him, and back to the shore.
Somebody with a greater range (shaman, runemaster) just goes now far enough into the water to pull him and backs off onto the island.
Sometimes he is at the surface (seen @ traldors loc). let your support person dive just out of reach and engage him @ the surface. so your support person can heal without getting hit if he gets aggro.  Sep 14 2004

I just did traitors dagger at the 3 croc islands, with my bot.  She was out of the group and when I pulled him, he didn't run and I got the drop first try.  So I don't know if being by yourself will affect him running or not, but I'd say its worth a shot.  Apr 20 2004

When u attack pull in melee he'll fight u. If you turn and run, he'll run away. If u pull any other way and turn and run, he'll also run away. If u get him n melee and start to back up he'll turn and run away.
If you pull him (not melee) he'll charge u if u back up. The key is to back up and strafe so when u charge he's pinned up against the shore or some other structure (he can't go on land). Once you get him in melee do not back up (especially if his back isn't against the obstacle or he'll run).

What the completed scrolls read:
The Complete Book of Glyphs reads, "The dagger has been left here for many years. I've been trying to retrieve it. I know its nature, and it is dark. There is a tale of a king, one of the first in  Atlantis. The kingdoms were besieged, and he fought off the enemy for three days and three nights, one king and his small army held off the enemy while the other kings regrouped and flanked the enemy. "
"He used this dagger, this Traitor's Dagger, to accomplish this.  All would have been well, but the king was found dead shortly after, with this dagger in his heart. It is said to have been blackened at the moment of the king's death, but I believe the dark blade always held a treacherous nature, and do not believe it was acquired. So I seek this dagger, for it is dangerous, and here in this dungeon it has found many that appreciate its dark nature. "
"It is hard to track this dagger down. It changes hands so frequently. Recently it's been used in some sobekite intrigue I'm not fully aware of. I thought I had it. I really truly believe this dagger should be destroyed. It is not safe for any to use. I don't mind the sobekites and their intrigue. It is their affair. The dagger, however, should be destroyed. It's brought nothing but bad luck."
"It would seem the dagger doesn't betray the sobekites. It would seem it has found a kindred race. Now I wonder if the dagger hasn't merely come full circle. My efforts to destroy it have proven futile, and now, more pressing matters call me back to Atlantis. I would very much like to see the dagger destroyed, but for the time, it must remain here."
