The Tablet of Oreias says, "I do not know how to being this so I shall simply begin.  I hope that this will help those that find it to repair the rift that has formed between my people.  My hope is all I have left now that I lay dying, exiled from the people I ruled for so many years."

 

The Tablet of Oreias says, "At one time we tritons, aided by the magic of Atlantis, lived in peace and harmony.  We were the protectors of the first trial the Atlanteans developed.  The Atlanteans chose me to lead my people, and for a very long time I did this and all were happy.  Then a great cataclysm destroyed Atlantis and its people, and the magic that aided me was lost."

 

The Tablet of Oreias says, "My people are naturally drawn to wealth and without the guidance of the magic of Atlantis our true nature began to emerge.  I struggled to keep our focus on the trials but the temptation of the wealth scattered throughout Oceanus was too tempting.  At least I was able to convince my people to share what they found with all.  If only they had continued to do that we might still be one whole people instead of three separate groups."

 

The Tablet of Oreias says, "Instead they began to hide their finds and lie to me and the others.  When this was discovered, it created terrible problems.  I struggled to maintain order and control, but it was like trying to hold back the tide.  Fear, anger, discontent, and jealously fueled my people.  I tried to find a compromise but each idea was furiously rejected.  Against the wishes of my advisors, I hid myself away, trying to find a way to bring back the magic of Atlantis and restore harmony to my people again.  This was to be my downfall."

 

The Tablet of Oreias says, "If only I had listened to my advisors, perhaps my sons Skyros, Naxos, and Melos would not have been able to usurp my power.  But I was so very proud.  Each of my sons had ideas about how to fix things, but I refused to listen to any of them.  So they turned against me.  They went to the people, using their skills as orators to each gain support for their views.  Soon a people that had been whole were shattered into three groups, each hating the others as well as me."

 

The Tablet of Oreias says, "I knew I could not fight all three groups with only a few loyal supporters left, and so we fled with the cries for my death ringing in my ears.  Over the years the Skyros Order, the Naxos Society, and the Melos Alliance as the groups began to call themselves have continued to fight each other for dominance over the others.  Only when one can gain the support of another can they defeat the third, and that will never happen.  Their hatred grows every day.  I shall not miss it when I am gone."
